Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms & Operator Identity

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you (whether individually or on behalf of an enterprise entity, "Customer", "you", or "your") and Atlas ("Atlas", "we", "us", or "our"), governing your access to and use of atlas-compiler.com, dashboard.atlas-compiler.com, api.atlas-compiler.com, the Atlas SDKs, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Operator Notice: Operated as Atlas, an independent developer infrastructure project located in India. Administrative inquiries and formal notices are managed via legal@atlas-compiler.com.

By creating an account, generating an API key, sending requests to our API, or accessing the Dashboard, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must immediately discontinue all use of the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Atlas provides deterministic web intelligence infrastructure. The Service retrieves publicly accessible web content requested by the Customer and compiles it into structured Markdown, extracted metadata graphs, and typed Intermediate Representations (IR) via programmatic REST APIs, client libraries (TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go), and an interactive web dashboard.

Atlas operates strictly as a technical compiler and software execution layer. Atlas does not publish, curate, endorse, or verify the factual accuracy of content published on third-party websites submitted by users for compilation.

3. Accounts & API Key Security

A. Registration & Authentication

Access to the Dashboard and API requires an authorized account provisioned through our authentication system (Clerk), using either verified email credentials or approved Single Sign-On (Google OAuth or GitHub OAuth). You must provide accurate and complete registration information and maintain its accuracy.

B. API Key Custody & Responsibility

Access to execution endpoints requires authentication via secret API keys. You are solely responsible for all activity conducted under your API keys and workspace credentials.

  • One-Time Secret Display: When an API key is created, Atlas displays the secret token exactly once. We do not store plaintext secrets; our database stores only cryptographically salted HMAC/SHA-256 hashes. If an API key secret is lost, it cannot be retrieved and must be revoked and rotated.
  • Key Custody: You must keep API keys secure on backend servers or secret management vaults. You must never commit API keys to public repositories, embed them in client-side browser bundles, or expose them to unauthorized parties.
  • Compromise Notification: You agree to notify us immediately at security@atlas-compiler.com upon discovering or suspecting any unauthorized use or leakage of your API keys.

4. Acceptable Use Policy & Prohibited Abuse

You represent and warrant that your use of the Service complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws, regulations, and statutes. You agree that you will NOT under any circumstances:

  • Unauthorized Computer Access: Use the Service to access computer systems, servers, or networks without authorization, or exceed authorized access, in violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA, 18 U.S.C. § 1030) or equivalent legislation.
  • Access-Control Circumvention: Use the Service to bypass, circumvent, or disable technological access control measures, authentication barriers, paywalls, or digital rights protections in violation of Section 1201 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA, 17 U.S.C. § 1201).
  • Denial-of-Service & Flooding: Use the Service to flood, overwhelm, or launch Denial-of-Service (DoS or DDoS) attacks against third-party servers, or execute scraping jobs at frequencies that deliberately disrupt target web services.
  • Network & SSRF Abuse: Attempt Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) or submit target URLs resolving to private intranet addresses (RFC 1918, RFC 4193), loopback interfaces (127.0.0.1), cloud provider link-local metadata endpoints (169.254.169.254), or internal worker service bindings. Our egress gateway actively filters and drops all such traffic.
  • Malicious Content & Exploitation: Submit URLs containing malware, ransomware, viruses, phishing lures, or exploits designed to harm the Service or downstream consumers.
  • Platform Reverse Engineering: Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the private Atlas Compiler Engine, Durable Object coordinators, or Egress Gateway.

5. Third-Party Content & User Responsibility

Customer Responsibility for Target Content

Atlas does not own, license, or claim proprietary rights in any third-party web content retrieved from target URLs. Third-party web content compiled through the Service remains the intellectual property of its respective copyright owners and publishers.

You, as the Customer, acknowledge and agree that:

  • Lawful Basis: You are solely responsible for determining that you have the lawful right, license, fair-use basis, or authorization to fetch, parse, store, index, and process any third-party URL submitted through your account.
  • Compliance with Target Terms: You are solely responsible for your compliance with the terms of use, robots directives, and licensing requirements of third-party websites you instruct Atlas to compile.
  • Downstream Use: You assume full legal responsibility for any downstream processing, display, redistribution, or utilization of third-party content compiled through the Service.

6. Intellectual Property & Ownership

A. Customer Ownership

As between you and Atlas, you retain all ownership, right, title, and interest in and to your application code, API queries, workspace project configurations, and any proprietary business data you provide to the Service.

B. Atlas Platform Property

The Service, including the Atlas Compiler Engine, parsing passes, Intermediate Representation schemas, developer APIs, documentation, website design, trademarks, service marks, and brand assets, is and remains the exclusive intellectual property of Atlas and its licensors. Except for the limited right to access the Service in accordance with these Terms, no rights or licenses are granted to you by implication or otherwise.

7. Billing, Plans, & Credit Accounting

A. Universal Credit Accounting

The Service meters usage through universal execution credits. Different compiler operations consume credits based on compute complexity (e.g., single-page compilation, crawl execution, map discovery, or premium headless browser rendering).

  • Two-Phase Reservation: When an execution begins, the estimated credit cost is reserved. Upon successful completion, actual units consumed are settled against your workspace balance. If an execution fails due to an internal system error, reserved credits are released.
  • Credit Overruns: If your credit balance is exhausted, subsequent execution requests fail with an overrun error (HTTP 429 / 402) until additional credits are granted or your plan renewal takes effect.

B. Subscription Tiers & Pricing

Atlas offers tiered subscription plans configured in our database catalog:

  • Free: 250 monthly credits ($0). Designed for personal development and evaluation.
  • Starter: 5,000 monthly credits ($9/month or $90/year).
  • Pro: 25,000 monthly credits ($24/month or $240/year).
  • Team: 120,000 monthly credits ($59/month or $590/year).
  • Scale: 480,000 monthly credits ($189/month or $1,890/year).
  • Business: 1,000,000 monthly credits ($360/month or $3,600/year).
  • Enterprise: Custom credit allowances, SLAs, and dedicated limits.

C. Payments & Subscriptions (Stripe)

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring monthly or annual basis via Stripe, Inc. By subscribing to a paid tier, you authorize Atlas (via Stripe) to automatically charge your configured payment method on each renewal date.

D. Cancellation & Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Billing section of the Atlas Dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and you will retain access to your plan until that date. All subscription fees and credit grants are non-refundable, except where refund rights are explicitly mandated by applicable statutory law.

8. Service Availability & External Web Disclaimers

We strive to provide dependable, high-performance infrastructure, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may perform scheduled maintenance, apply zero-downtime database migrations, or temporarily suspend access to investigate security anomalies.

External Web Availability Disclaimer: The compilation process depends directly on the reachability, responsiveness, and architecture of third-party websites. Atlas makes no guarantees that any specific external URL will remain accessible, online, or unchanged. Atlas is not liable for compilation failures caused by target server outages, DNS failures, anti-bot protections, CAPTCHA challenges, or malformed upstream HTML.

9. Warranty Disclaimer

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE, DOCUMENTATION, APIS, AND COMPILED ARTIFACTS ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE.

ATLAS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, BE FREE OF BUGS OR SECURITY VULNERABILITIES, OR THAT COMPILED CONTENT WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR COMPLETE.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ATLAS, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR SUBPROCESSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, DATA, WORK STOPPAGE, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL ATLAS'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL FEES ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU TO ATLAS FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY; OR (B) ONE HUNDRED UNITED STATES DOLLARS ($100.00 USD).

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Atlas, its officers, directors, employees, and contractors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy;
  • Your submission of target URLs that you lacked legal authorization or rights to access;
  • Your downstream use, display, distribution, or commercial exploitation of third-party web content compiled through the Service; or
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including copyright, trademark, trade secret, or privacy rights.

12. Suspension & Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, revoke your API keys, or disable your webhook endpoints immediately, without prior notice or liability, if:

  • You violate any provision of these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy;
  • Your usage threatens the security, integrity, or stability of the Service or other customers;
  • We receive verified abuse complaints, DMCA notices, or legal process regarding your account's target queries; or
  • Your account incurs unresolved payment delinquencies or credit overruns.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, and 15 shall survive termination.

13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

Jurisdiction Specification: Governing law and dispute resolution shall be administered under the laws of India. Inquiries regarding legal notices can be sent to legal@atlas-compiler.com.

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the specified jurisdiction, without giving effect to any conflict of law principles.

To the extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted solely on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

14. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When material revisions occur, we will post the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date and notify registered account owners via email or a notification in the Atlas Dashboard at least fourteen (14) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service following the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the modifications.
